Summer Library Programs

Our Polk County Public Libraries are very active places all year round with Literacy programs, book clubs, writing groups and reading incentives.  During the summer months, many offer a Summer Reading Program with fun activities and reading incentives. Click this link to find out more about the PCLC_Summer Reading.

We also encourage all of our Sleepy Hill Students to get a Polk County Library card too! Getting a library card is very easy.  As a resident of Polk County, library cards are available at no charge.  Parent or guardian of child will need to bring in proof of identification and residency, such as a valid driver’s license, utility bill or insurance card to their local library to get a library card.  Residents, property owners and business owners, employees and students of Polk County Public Schools and employees of Polk County Gov’t and Polk County college students may qualify for a free library card. A Polk County library card is good at all 15 public libraries. We have a bookmobile making 13 stops throughout Polk County and B-Mail (books-by-mail ) offering free home delivery service (anything you can find in your library can be delivered to your home). Click on this link for a listing of all Polk County Library locations and activities.

To get the ball rolling, parents can go online to register for a library card (follow link below) and pick their card up at their library. You can register for a card online via this link.  This is a placeholder until you can get to the library to complete your registration; after a month, the account will close.

Vision Statement

At Sleepy Hill Elementary, it is our vision that a rigorous, relevant curriculum, enhanced by technology that will assure our students achieve skills necessary to succeed academically and become life-long learners. Consistent integration of technology throughout the academic day will promote our students to become self guided explorers of the vast amounts of information available at their fingertips.  We will unite parents, faculty and community members to establish an atmosphere of mutual acceptance, ongoing interest in high levels of academic achievement, and a sense of community for all.   The realization of this vision will allow our learning community to interface with technology for a more fulfilling exploration of their global world.
